Subway Convention 2009

I recently attended the Subway Convention in Washington D.C.  It was my first time attending the annual convention and I thought it was okay.  The highlights of this convention for me were:  discussing store operations with other franchisees at the Multi-Unit-Owners Roundtable, meeting and spending a few minutes talking with Fred Deluca, talking with exhibitors on the Trade Show floor, and taking an early morning run along the shore of the Potomac. 8-)

The learning sessions could have been better, in my view, had they contained action steps that franchisees could take back to their stores and apply.  Having Subway available for breakfast, lunch and dinner each day was okay, but left me wondering if the organizers forgot where we work every day… :-?   The alternative food provided was good, but the noisy, Trade Show floor atmosphere made it difficult to enjoy.

Also, I was a little disappointed that the closing ceremony and 30,000 store celebration were scheduled throughout the afternoon and evening on Sunday and I was unable to attend because of my flight schedule.  Well, there’s always next year if I decide to go.

Overall, I’m glad I finally had the experience.  I even managed to snap a few photos while I was there… :-)

It is too bad that they didn’t give the franchisee owners enough to take home from that experience.
I really like this little video you made of the Subway Convention in Washington D.C. :)

    mrsluttrell620,
    Thanks for your comment!

My hope is that DAI will try and do a better job in this area next year.
