Ready, willing, and able…

Ready, willing, and able… the three things a Subway Store Owner should be at all times.

  • Ready to assume control when necessary.
  • Willing to stay and work until the job is done.
  • Able to perform the tasks necessary to serve customers.

Sometimes the managers we’ve put in charge to run our business don’t perform as they should.  Sometimes it’s necessary to take control when their performance falls below acceptable standards and threatens to hurt the business.  As the owner you must be ready to assume control at any time.  Managers who understand this about you are less likely to underperform.

In addition, it’s important for you to demonstrate a good work ethic.  How willing you are to stay longer if needed will determine how willing your managers are.  You are the leader.  Your managers, as well as the rest of your employees, will copy you.

Finally, to be an effective store owner you must possess the skills necessary to serve your customers.  If you can’t bake bread, make a sandwich, or run the register, you won’t have much credibility with your staff. Ready and willing are meaningless without the ability to back them up.

Something to think about as you continue your journey to be your best…

Strive to be more! :-)
