There comes a time in every parent’s life when you have to sit helplessly by and watch your child suffer from a broken heart… It’s hard to know just what to say or do. My best advice is to simply be there, available to listen, to hug, and to offer some reassurance that everything is going to be alright. Enjoy the following poem, written by me, Coach Morse.
Broken hearts like all wounds heal,
Painful as they are.
That stabbing pain of loss you feel
Will pass, but leave a scar.
The first time hurts the most for sure,
And little brings relief.
The breaking of a heart so pure
Will fill your soul with grief.
Tears rain down upon your quilt
And mark recovery.
They wash away the fear and guilt,
But leave uncertainty.
Yet each new day the sun comes out
To dry a little part,
And soon you’ll feel, without a doubt,
The mending of your heart.
I know it’s hard to make it through
The hurt you feel today,
But trust me when I say to you,
You’re going to be okay.
If you’re struggling to achieve the kind of relationship you want to have with your teenager, contact me. I can help.
Have a magnificent week!
